Vision

Hotel Dieu Senior Apartments provides a multicultural environment that honors and enhances the quality of life of those we serve by creating innovative programs to encourage social interaction, fostering a culture of opportunities for fellowship and community while respecting the value of each resident.

History

The idea for Hotel Dieu grew directly out of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels experience with clients in the program. Since 1977, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels (SVMOW) has delivered more than 13 million meals to low-income seniors and disabled persons in need throughout Los Angeles.

Many clients have lived in the same apartments for years, while the neighborhood around them has deteriorated and their dwellings have fallen into disrepair. Faulty heating and electrical systems, a lack of smoke alarms and rodent infestation are not unusual. Because they are infirmed and poor, these individuals remain in dangerous conditions, alone and afraid.

Hotel Dieu, House of God, is an answer to the elderly poor for a safe, affordable, pleasant place to live.
